We’ve a particular gathering here in Southern California (one of many) called Cars & Coffee. Locals show up early in the morning on the weekend to show off their cars, trucks, and motorcycles, grab a cup of coffee, and talk shop. It’s unscripted and open to all, so you never know who or what’s going to show up. From one-off-race cars to beater trucks, it’s all there; these are some of the things that catch my eye while I wander about with my cup and camera.
We all know that small cars are good for us. But so is cod liver oil. And jogging. I want to drive around in a Terminator, not the heroine in an E. M. Forster novel.
I’ve also a great love of machines of all sorts. The more mechanical the better. If it hums, rattles or whirs, goes bang or click, I’m a fan. The engineers and machinists who make them are magicians that pull ideas from thin air, and then coax them into existence from metal, carbon fiber, and plastic.
I’m also a designer by trade, so from time I might highlight a logo, poster, or some other creation I deem worthy, or am working on.
Welcome, to The Death Machine™.
